Please check the excel file you are trying to import carefully. In most instances, you will see an error message or areas will be highligted on the import page. Occasionally the upload will simply fail, so check the following if you have problems.
- Ensure no assets with a zero purchase value. Ensure no 0.00 in the 'brought forward cost' column
- Ensure no assets with a negative value in the depreciation column
- Ensure the depreciation value does not exceed thep purchase value
- Ensure the values on sheet are actual (do not include any formulas or 'LOOK-UPS')
- Ensure no assets with missing depreciation rules
- Ensure all of the depreciation rules on your template actually exist. nettTracker has some default rules in place, but you may need to create some of your own. (i.e. SL-7 for 7 year straight line)
- When importing assets with Straight Line Months the code for importing needs to be SM-. If importing an asset that is to depreicate over 27.5 years this is 300 months. Therefore the rule on the import template must be SM-300.
- Ensure no assets where the asset group has not been created or spelling mistakes against the asset group
- Ensure no Rows / Columns have been deleted from the template that should not have been
- Ensure no extra rows or columns on the spreadsheet exist (i.e. totals to check values) - remove prior to import
- Ensure that the option to 'Track Classes' is not enabled in company settings if classes are not in the spreadsheet. (QuickBooks Online Only, and the classes must already be setup in QuickBooks).
- It is advisable not to attempt to import more than 400 assets at a time. If you have 1,200 assets to import, break this down into 3 import files.
All of the instructions you need to successfully import assets are on the asset import template. It may be useful to download the template again just so that you can check the instructions and ensure that the first line of data to be imported is the correct one.
If you wish to add assets that have no value, add them with a brought forward cost of 0.01 and a brought forward depreciation value also fo 0.01
